IAM Live: SEP Summit Global 2026 took place at The Waldorf Hilton in London on 9–10 September. The conference focused on standard-essential patents (SEPs), bringing together patent owners, technology implementers, licensing professionals and legal advisers. Its specialist remit connected the development of technology standards with the negotiations and disputes surrounding access to patented inventions.
The 2026 agenda examined global SEP licensing strategy, the next generation of standards and the expansion of licensing into new sectors. Sessions considered automotive technologies, connected devices and the Internet of Things, alongside the roles of patent pools and bilateral agreements. Litigation discussions explored the UK and Unified Patent Court, while negotiation-focused sessions considered preparation, deadlock and the use of AI.
