PIFC Japan 2026, officially the Intellectual Property Information Fair & Conference, took place on 16–18 September in East Hall 3 at Tokyo Big Sight. The specialist Japanese IP exhibition and conference brought together systems, services and information supporting intellectual property strategy. Its audience included IP and research-and-development professionals, business leaders and specialists involved in protecting and commercialising innovation.
The event’s scope extended from research and development through rights acquisition to commercial use. Exhibitions, seminars and conference sessions connected the tools used in everyday IP work with wider questions about strategy and business value. Its coverage included patents, trademarks and designs, reflecting an expansion beyond the event’s earlier patent-focused identity.
First launched in 1981, the fair has a long history as a meeting place for Japan’s IP information community. The 2026 edition continued that role while adopting an English name intended to reflect its broader intellectual property remit and international outlook. For teams assessing IP information services or looking to understand the Japanese market, PIFC offered a concentrated view of the suppliers, professional expertise and approaches that support the journey from invention to protected commercial asset.
