The Intellectual Property Owners Association’s 2026 Annual Meeting took place on 27–29 September at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, Canada. The meeting brought together IP professionals from around the world for educational programmes, committee activities, networking and the IP Expo. Its combination of corporate and professional perspectives reflected the interests of organisations that own and manage intellectual property.

The programme of committee open houses covered patent law and litigation, corporate IP management, licensing, trade secrets and pharmaceutical and biotechnology issues. Other committees addressed AI, data, emerging technologies, software-related inventions, trademarks, copyright and industrial designs. International practice groups added perspectives from several regions, while sessions and networking activities gave delegates opportunities to discuss current challenges with peers.

A distinctive feature of the IPO Annual Meeting is the connection between professional education and the association’s policy work. Committee open houses introduce attendees to groups that research IP issues and develop recommendations for IPO’s leadership. For in-house teams, patent attorneys and other advisers, the Toronto meeting offered a broad forum to examine legal developments, compare approaches to managing rights and participate in the wider intellectual property community.
